About the workshop
I have been working on furniture for most of my life. I learned this trade by watching men who believed in steady hands, sharp tools, and doing a job once and doing it right.
In this shop, I do not rush pieces in and out. I talk with you, look the furniture over, and explain what can be done and what should be left alone. Some things I bring back close to new. Other times we keep the age in it and simply make it solid and handsome again.
I work on everything from storm-damaged cabinets and chewed chair legs to family tables that have seen three generations of meals. If it is made of wood and it means something to you, I will do my best to bring it back.
What I work on
Old furniture is not “junk” to me. It is something made by hands, and that is worth saving.
Repairs & structural work
Loose chairs, broken joints, missing pieces, dog-chewed corners, water damage — I tighten, rebuild, and patch so you can use your furniture without worrying about it.
Refinishing & color work
Hand stripping, sanding, color matching, and clear coats that let the grain show. The goal is not plastic shine, but a smart, durable finish.
Cabinets & doors
Kitchen cabinets, interior doors, and built-ins that have taken a beating over the years. I freshen them up so the room feels right again.
Special pieces
Family heirlooms, old shop stools, antique chests and trunks — the pieces with a story. These get extra time and extra care.
Finished work
A few examples of the kind of work that leaves this shop.
What people say
Most of my work comes from folks telling friends and family.
“Vincent restored our dining table from the 1960s. It looks like itself again, only steadier. He talked us through every step and treated it like it was his own.”
— L. G., Suffolk County
“We brought him a chest that had been through a flood. I was sure it was too far gone. He brought back the color and feel of the piece. You would never guess what it went through.”
— M. R., Brookhaven
“An honest man who knows his craft. He told us what was worth doing and what was not, and the finished work is beautiful.”
— J. D., Long Island
“Old chairs from my parents’ house were loose and scratched up. He tightened them, touched up the finish, and they now sit in my kitchen like they belong there.”
— K. S., Nassau County
